Early Morning Visitor

Ever since I moved up here to the Lakes Region from the Seacoast area, I've been hearing about all of the wildlife I will be seeing. We live in a very wooded area about 6 miles from Lake Winnisquam, and I always have my eyes opened, hoping to see something, anything. I've seen hummingbirds, blue jays and robins, cats, dogs and horses, but none of that was anything new for me. A few weeks ago I did see 13 deer grazing in a field a couple of miles down the road but unfortunately I didn't have a camera.
Yesterday, after stepping out onto the deck, this is what I saw. Mr. Bear was just coming out of the woods behind the deer target. My heart was thumping like mad but I grabbed my camera and got off a couple of shots before he went around to the front yard and then up the hill and across the road. Obviously he was taking an early morning stroll, perhaps looking for some breakfast.

We are really careful not to leave any garbage outside and we don't have any bird feeders out in the yard because we don't want to attract any bears. George has seen moose and bear tracks out in the woods behind the house and our neighbor has had moose in his driveway, so hopefully one day I will see a moose too. That would be really cool.

I have a few errands and chores to take care of today on my day off. We are leaving early tomorrow morning for Quebec City so I need to finish the laundry and pack for a couple of days. Then I have to get to the pharmacy and pick up a few things like panty hose, mouthwash and something else that escapes my mind at gthe moment.
Later this afternoon I am going to drop Hunter off at Eric and Jessie's house for the weekend. I hope he doesn't terrorize their cats too badly. LOL

Sunday we will be at the Basillica in Ste. Anne De Beaupre, Quebec, for the Ordination. George's cousin Gerald will be ordained one of the youngest Bishops in the world. The family is very proud and I am very excited to witness such an event.
I hope to have plenty of pictures next week.

For now I am off to finish laundry and take my shower.
Have a great day and enjoy the holiday weekend.

That picture of the bear is cool, but I don't understand why you didn't get a close-up ;)

Have a safe trip and I'm looking forward to seeing lots of pictures.

I actually asked him to stop and give me a smile but he had other things on his mind. I thinik I was close enough...I could actually hear him panting and snorting...plenty close enough for me. LOL

Enjoy your visit with the family and be very mindful in church to not get upset and say a wordy dird! LOL (who Lainie? cusss? never!!!)
We use to have bears come down outta the mountains when we were younger and camping. Big signs around the park said "do not approach the bears..DO NOT FEED THEM!) so you were probably smart not to get to close!

(wow Iggy and Deanna sing very well together!)

*joins iggy n deanna and sings the other bear verse*

"The bear went over the river, the bear went over the river
The bear went over the river, to see what he could see.
And all that he could see, and all that he could see
Was the other side of the river, the other side of the river
The other side of the river, was all that he could see."

Awesome picture!

Travel safely.

When we got home the other night, Mom was telling us about a bear that wandered thru the yards the other day. She said she didn't see it, but the neighbors did and told her about it. It went across my parent's yard, then across our side yard and then down toward the creek. Karl told me yesterday that the one neighbor told him it was tall enough when standing to rest his paws on the end of the roof of Dad's one building behind our place. We've seen bear here before, and it's an awesome sight to see, but one I'd rather see from a much further distance. Great pics!

What an exciting day today will be for you and the family. I would love to see some pictures from the ordination.
