Doctor's appointment went fairly well last night. Thyroid checked out alright, which was a relief. Blood pressure was up a little but not high enough to panic about. No change regarding the asthma, but that was also expected since I haven't done anything to eliminate the allergen triggers within my house. This would involve a few things that I am either not willing to do right now or not financially prepared to tackle. First, I would have to get rid of the dog. Not gonna happen unless one of the kids can take him and neither of them are in an apartment that accepts pets. Second, I would have to rip up the carpeting in the house and put down hard wood floors. Lovely idea, but I can't afford to do that at this time. Another alternative would be to pack up and move. Again, not financially possible at this time. If I was sick all the time, then I would have to take action, and deal with the money issues but I haven't felt this good for a couple of years so I think I am much better off than I was and I will cope with the occasional flare ups when they happen. The good doctor is just gonna have to deal with it. I have to go back for more blood work in 6 weeks and then he wants to see me again. UGH...when is he going to get sick of seeing me anyway? I am already sick of seeing him. LOL
I also had a flu shot while I was there and I haven't had a reaction except for a bit of a sore arm this morning. I think I will be alright.
I worked a little overtime yesterday before my appointment and was asked to go in this morning. I was all for that...it feels really good to be busy again. I didn't even mind getting up early this morning. I worked for almost 7 hours today and then went to the service station to have my car looked at. My heat has been taking a very long time to come up in the car and I replaced the thermostat just last March so I figured it was faulty. I have an extended warranty on my car so I wasn't worried about the cost, but I didn't have an appointment and we are expecting a pretty big snowstorm tomorrow so I thought I would take a chance and see if they could look at it. Brian said they were really busy but if I didn't mind waiting a bit he would try to squeeze it in and see what was happening. I went into the waiting area and prepared to sit for an hour or two. 20 minutes later he came in and told me it was all set. I was down about a half gallon of coolant so they checked for leaks, found none, and filled the coolant container. I just had my car serviced at the same place a month ago and they were supposed to top off all of my fluids. Someone forgot, apparently. Heat is running fine now so no harm no foul. I was just happy they were able to fit me in without an appointment. I try not to make a habit of doing that but when I have, they are really good about it and do what they can.
After my car was dealt with, I ran a few errands and stopped at my parents house for a quick visit. My mom was taking a nap and my dad was busy washing the kitchen floor so I stayed a few minutes and visited with my brother, then headed for Wal-Mart. I picked up a few things, and bought myself the new Eagles CD. So far I like what I have heard. I really love their harmonies.
As mentioned, we are expecting a major snowstorm tomorrow night into Monday morning. Last report stated 6 inches to a foot in some locations. Great...the storm that is hitting the mid west is on it's way. Thanks Denise for being so generous and sending it my way. :-) I took out the shovels and my window scraper and I have to drag out my boots. It's bitter cold outside right now, just 18F and very windy. The sun is already setting and it is not even 4:30.
I think I will go make a cup of tea and get some laundry done in case we lose power during the storm. The puppy also looks like he needs someone to cuddle up with. That would be me!

Dammit...Denise that snow was supposed to come south...NOT EAST!! You just watch...hubby will get the job, we'll move to VA and east coast will stop getting snow. Would be my luck.Either that or it'll do what Pa did when I moved there that one year....snowed so damn much that it shut down our city for 3-4 days.....
Good to hear your doctor's visit went okay. Why do you have to go back in 6 months. What are they checking on...your thyroid?
I bought Marty a set of snow tires for his new car this morning. They're part of his Christmas present this year. He'll need them with all of the traveling he's doing now.
That Styxie is just asking for snow, ladies. Let's all send some her way. LOL
I see your point about the dog not going anywhere. It's difficult when you love them and they also cause health problems, but so long as it's mild problems then even over the counter medication would relieve you of the problem? I'm glad the doctor appointment went well.
Get ready for that snow!! Holy shit I woke up to it this morning and lost 2 dogs in the snowdrifts.
I have to go back in 6 weeks, AK, because he seems to enjoy my company. LOL NO actually, my blood pressure was just a tad higher than usual so he wants to make sure that it was just a random thing and not because my meds aren't working. Sometimes, with long term use, they lose their ability to do the job. I personally think it was the sodium in the ham sandwich I ate for lunch.
My thyroid levels were holding at the same readings as in past screenings so although a bit on the high side of the scale, still within acceptable levels so no need for medication for that at this time. I tell you what, it sucks getting old.
Snow tires are a good gift. I bought tickets this morning for Sara for her 'big' gift, to the Linkin Park concert in February. She will be soooo surprised.
Kerry, I am on precsription meds for my allergies and asthma, but I am taking the max dosage for them and the next step would be to take those dreaded steroids which have some pretty awful side effects attached to them. I've been adamant that I won't take them so I just keep vacuuming and dusting and hoping for the best.
And Styxie...if you moving to VA will stop us from getting snow...then please move NOW! LOL
Damn! That snow was supposed to be sent SOUTH! Someone didn't hold up their end of the bargain, and it wasn't me!
I'm glad things went well with the doctor, is he single? LMAO
I saw all the snow predicted for the NE states, and figured you'd have a hard time getting to work on Monday. I know someone who'd accept an express package of snow, lmao. Be stafe!
LMAO @ Lainie & Chicago!!! please??? :)
